Aim the camera at an object and the application will show the color of that object on the screen.
The application has an optional white balance feature for improved color reading. Put a gray or white paper near the colored object and point at the screen image of the paper. White balancing usually improved the color accuracy.
The camera in the iPhone is quite limited, so a brightly lit room will greatly improve color accuracy.
